What is Parchis?

Parchis is a popular Spanish board game derived from the Indian game Pachisi. It shares similarities with Ludo but incorporates greater strategic complexity through blockades, bonus captures, and flexible dice movement.

The core objective is simple: move your four tokens around the board and into the home zone before your opponents. But the path there is full of tactical decisions, clever captures, and safe zone strategy.

Parchis Club brings this classic game online with competitive leagues, dynamic events, and a global community ready to play 24/7.

How to Play Parchis

Follow these steps to understand the complete rules of Parchis.

1

Setup

Each player selects a colour and positions four tokens in their starting circle. The board includes four individual paths and a central home area. Certain squares are designated as safe spaces that prevent token capture.

2

Starting the Game

Players alternate rolling two dice. To move a token from the starting circle onto the board, you must roll a 5 — either on a single die or as a combined total. Once on the board, tokens move clockwise according to the dice rolls.

3

Moving Your Tokens

On each turn, you can move one token using both dice values combined, or move two different tokens using each die value separately. Rolling doubles usually grants extra moves or a bonus turn.

4

Capturing Opponents

If you land on a square occupied by an opponent's token (that is not on a safe space), that token is captured and returned to its starting circle. In the Spanish variant, capturing an opponent's token grants a 20-space bonus move.

5

Safe Zones & Blockades

Certain squares are safe zones where tokens cannot be captured. If two tokens of the same colour occupy the same square, they form a blockade that no other token can pass through.

6

Entering the Home Zone

After completing a full circuit of the board, tokens enter the final coloured path leading home. You must roll the exact number needed to land on the final home square — no overshooting.

7

Winning

The first player to move all four tokens into their home zone wins the game. Strategic captures, smart use of safe zones, and knowing when to advance or block are the keys to victory.
